Institutional Scholarships and Awards

*Certain scholarships require additional information and paperwork, which is highlighted below in red. You will be asked to upload the additional documentation for those scholarships before you can submit the application.

*Robert Nesslin Scholarship
Awarded to an adult student seeking a bachelor's or master's degree who is currently enrolled in the Accelerated Learning Program. You will be required to submit a copy of your resume and a 250-500-word essay outlining what earning your degree will mean to you and why you should be chosen to receive this scholarship.

Alumni Scholarship
Awarded to a relative of a Medaille graduate demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.

Joyce and Stuart Angert Scholarship
The Angert Family Scholarship is a need-based award given to applicants with a proven sense of character, values and leadership. The scholarship will be awarded to a second-year Medaille student, with the stipulation that he or she maintained a 3.0/B average as a first-year student.

Roger F. Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Roger Bonenfant, a faculty member in the Human Services Program from 1971 to 1988.  This Scholarship is awarded to a Junior or Senior based on need and academic standing.

Business Program Scholarship
Established to recognize a business major demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.

Jacqueline Downey Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to full-time undergraduate students, who are in their senior year, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

*Allen Lee Downing Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Allen Lee Downing, a 26 year old ALP student who left an indelible impression on those with whom he came in contact, this scholarship is awarded to students aspiring to become leaders in the business world, with a strong passion for and commitment to the service of others. ALP and Buffalo campus students are eligible to apply. You will be required to submit a 250-500-word essay explaining your short-term and long-term educational goals as well as your involvement in community activities. 

Alaxander P. and Charlotte T. Dzierba Scholarship
Established at Medaille College in honor of Alexander Paul and Charlotte T. Dzierba by their family and friends.  The scholarship pays tribute to their enduring traits of self-initiative, life long learning, and deep abiding love for family.

Garman Family Scholarship
Awarded to students pursuing degrees in Education, Child and Youth Services, and Health and Human Services.  The scholarship is based on academic ability and financial need and is given to students whose career focus is to help others.

Darlene Harding Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Darleen Harding, a Medaille College faculty member for ten years.  This award is given to students pursuing degrees that emphasize mathematics and science.

William Randolph Hearst Scholarship
Awarded to first generation college students.  The Hearst Foundation donated money to provide opportunities to help students achieve a college education.

*Margaret Kafka '90 Women Aspire Scholarship
Awarded to a female non-traditional age student with financial need for whom a college degree will be a life altering achievement. Women enrolled in the ALP program are eligible to apply. You will be required to submit a copy of your resume and a 250-500-word essay outlining what earning your degree will mean to you and why you should be chosen to receive this scholarship

Key Bank Scholarship
Thanks to a generous gift from Key Bank, this scholarship assists students in their first year at Medaille.  This award is distributed to students in need of financial assistance living in Erie County.

Anna M. Kramer Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to an adult student (over 25) in a management related program with an interest in accounting, this scholarship is based on demonstrated financial need and academic merit.

Dr. Susan Bokman Leitzan Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to students pursuing degrees in Veterinary Technology who have outstanding academic records.

Medaille Endowment Scholarship
Established to ensure that high achieving students in need of financial aid received assistance as they worked toward their degree.

*Anna Illuzzi Palano Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of the founding President of the Medaille College Alumni Association Board of Directors and is awarded to continuing students based on financial need, scholastic ability, personal initiative, and participation in school and community activities. All Medaille College students are eligible to apply. You will be required to submit a 250-500-word essay outlining adversity that you overcame to get to where you are now. 

Palisano Foundation Scholarship
Awarded to ensure that higher education was accessible to students driven to succeed who may not, on their own, have the financial capacity.

*Heidi A. Raphael '85 Communication Scholarship
Awarded annually to an outstanding student currently participating in the Communication Program at the Buffalo campus. You will be required to submit a letter of recommendation and a 250-500-word essay outlining what your career goals are and why you are interested in pursuing a career in communications. 

Mike Roszman Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student who demonstrates talent in radio broadcasting or journalism who is actively involved in college and community events.

Joseph P. and Isabella Runfola Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student with a working-class background who is studying in a major that will help others.  Financial need is considered.

Joseph E. Savarese Sr. Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Dr. Joe Savarese's father, Mr. Savarese Sr. who was a career law enforcement professional with the NYPD and later a Public Elementary School Teacher (NYC) for special students in New York City. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in Veterinary Technology who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need.

Sisters of St. Joseph Scholarship
Awarded to an education major involved in extra-curricular activities.

Kevin I. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship
Established to honor a Medaille legacy.  Former President Sullivan was beloved by alumni and students and cared deeply for the College.  This scholarship is made available to students demonstrating financial need, academic excellence and leadership potential.

Kevin I. and Virginia D. Sullivan Scholarship
Awarded annually to an entering transfer student whose previous academic record promises success at Medaille and who has demonstrated leadership potential through prior activities in college or in the community.

Stanley P. Szymanski Memorial Scholarship
Established to ensure that students of Polish descent in need of financial aid received assistance.

Student Aid Fund Scholarship
Awarded to students demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.

Student Government Association Scholarship
Awarded to a student who is active in clubs on campus. Must be a junior or senior.

Phyllis S. Ware Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to Education majors in their junior year.  Students must demonstrate academic excellence.

Karen L. Trabert WENDEL Companies Scholarship
Awarded to a female business student with an interest in Accounting or Human Resources demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.  This scholarship was established in 2009 in honor of a Medaille graduate and highly regarded WENDEL Companies employee.

Dr. Philip Weber Scholarship
Named in honor of Dr. Weber who was co-owner of the Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic. This scholarship is awarded to second year Veterinary Technology students who are in good academic standing.

*Dr. Francis M. Murphy Education Scholarship
The Dr. Francis M. Murphy Education Scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Murphy to ensure that his commitment to instructing effective educators lived on in perspective teachers. You will be required to submit a 250-500-word essay outlining why you think you deserve this scholarship and what your future goals as a future educator are.

Joseph Petronella Scholarship Fund
Awarded to a junior or senior criminal justice major and is based on academic achievement.

$1,000 Internet Education Scholarship

External Scholarships

Many private, third-party organizations provide scholarships. It may be worth your time to explore and apply for various scholarships from these organizations. 

Bear in mind, however, that each of these scholarship funds have their own requirements and set their own dates. Louisiana Tech University, is not responsible for these scholarships, and provides this list as simply as an information resource for students' convenience. It is the responsibility of the student to examine each scholarship, assess their own qualifications, and apply by the appropriate due date.
